SPOTLIGHT: ASSOCIATE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
Among The MLC’s staff is a group of ten individuals who started in our Associate Development Program. Launched in July 2020, the Program was designed to give entry-level hires the opportunity to expand their knowledge and skills in multiple rights management focus areas and provide them with meaningful professional growth opportunities at an early stage of their careers.
The MLC selected ten candidates from an initial applicant pool of more than 250 to become a part of our inaugural group of Associates. After completing a 4-week, virtual full-time training and development program, each new Associate began serving Members as a part of The MLC’s Support Team.
Associates have the opportunity to work alongside our team’s industry experts across numerous elements of The MLC’s operations, including licensee relations, data integrity, rights research, conflict management and royalty payment processing. They gain valuable experience utilizing sophisticated technology and critically evaluating music metadata, while building on the core knowledge and understanding of the music industry ecosystem and rights management they will need as their careers progress.
Since launching our Associate program last Summer, several associates have moved on to join other MLC teams, including DSP Relations, Rights Management and Third-Party Partnerships. As these Associates have moved into their new roles, we have backfilled their positions on the Support Team to maintain the number of employees dedicated to supporting our Members.
The Associate Development Program is a great example of how The MLC employs its four guiding principles – Excellence, Diversity, Transparency and Service – in everything we do.
