Annual Member Meeting ThoughtExchange Results
Following The MLC’s Annual Member Meeting this past November, we invited our Members to share their opinions – via a ThoughtExchange conversation platform – about what The MLC did well during its first year of operations, as well as what they would like to see us focus on in the future. We conduct these ThoughtExchanges periodically because your insight is important to us, and hearing from you directly helps us serve you better.
As was the case with last fall’s ThoughtExchange on The MLC’s webinar programming, we had a great response this time around and received plenty of honest and insightful feedback from the Members who participated.
Here is the breakdown of the categories of things you thought we did well in 2021:
- Mission Execution - 28%
- Customer Service - 26%
- Outreach & Engagement - 21%
- Education - 17%
- Other - 8%
Fulfilling our mission has been our foremost priority from the very beginning, so it was great to see so many of you acknowledge that we are doing that successfully. The remaining top items all spoke to our commitment to providing the best possible service to our Members, and we were pleased to see so many of you recognize our Support Team, our outreach efforts and our educational initiatives.
Looking ahead to 2022, here is the breakdown of categories of the things you asked us to focus on:
- Processes and Tools – 28%
- Outreach & Engagement - 26%
- Education - 19%
- Conflict Resolution Policies and Practices – 9%
- Mission Execution – 9%
- Other - 9%
At the top of the list, there was widespread encouragement from respondents to enhance the tools and resources we have developed and launched. Making improvements to our existing tools was one of our top priorities for this year and is something that is already underway, such as making all of the songwriter names visible when you search for a work in the Public Search or within The Portal. In the coming months, we will continue to roll out improvements and enhancements to The MLC’s tools and resources and your feedback will help us determine which to prioritize first.
Related to that, we are also working on adding new functionality in The Portal that will enable Members to manage conflicts and disputes more effectively. This new functionality will complement our existing policies and make it easier for Members to bring any conflicts to a resolution. We expect to launch our Disputes module within The Portal later this spring.
Finally, with the effects of the pandemic hopefully beginning to wane, we are excited to begin doing more outreach and education activities in person this year. The MLC will have a presence at several upcoming industry conferences and meetings, and we will share more details about that as our plans are finalized.
Thank you to all of our Members who participated in this ThoughtExchange!
