A Letter from CEO, Kris Ahrend
March 2021
Spring is here and there is lots going on at The MLC to tell you about in this month’s newsletter!
We have been preparing for our next milestone – The MLC’s distribution of its first royalty payments and statements, which are scheduled to be sent to Members at the end of April. This inaugural royalty distribution will cover usage reported by DSPs for the month of January 2021. We’ve included more details about our first royalty distribution, including the place on our website where you can find a schedule of the fields that will be included in our royalty statements.
Also in this month’s newsletter, we're announcing a new series of educational webinars that begins on April 8. Finally, we’re excited to introduce you to three new members of The MLC’s leadership team.
Now that The MLC is about to begin distributing royalties, it is more important than ever for every rightsholder that is entitled to collect mechanical royalties for songs available on digital audio services in the U.S. to become a Member of The MLC. Becoming a Member is the first step you'll need to take in order to receive your share of the mechanical royalties that The MLC collects for your works.
If you have not become an MLC Member yet, I encourage you to spend some time browsing the information we've posted on the Membership and Resources pages on our website. Once you're ready to begin the Member process, you can click here. If you are already a Member, please be sure that all of the musical works data in The MLC Portal for your works is accurate and complete, and double-check your contact and payment information.
As always, if you have any questions about any aspect of our operations, The MLC's Support Team is ready and willing to try and help. They are available 12 hours a day, Monday to Friday (from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. CT) and 9 hours on Saturdays (from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. CT). You can reach them by filling out this form or calling them at 615-488-3653.
All my best,
